MERCEDES D IIIA

BMW 505 "Adenauer"

BMW 505 "Adenauer"
The BMW 505 was handed over for an initial test drive in November 1955, intended as a state car for Chancellor Konrad Adenauer, his driver Willi Klockner, and the Chancellor's advisor Hans Kilb. Adenauer was not present for this test drive or for a further test drive in January 1956. Ultimately, Kilb decided that the chancellor should continue to drive a Mercedes. Since BMW saw no sales opportunities without the “chancellor bonus,” this single prototype remained the only one ever built.
