Savoia-Marchetti
SM.79

The tail unit of the Savoia Marchetti was found on the Greek island of Rhodes. Due to its previous use as a pasture fence, the steel parts were incomplete, corroded, and deformed.

The aim of the restoration was to preserve and refurbish the existing parts and to supplement them for a museum presentation of the complete elevator and rudder. The missing parts were manufactured and supplemented according to the original plans, and the elevator was completely rebuilt. Finally, the single-sided cotton covering was applied according to the original covering plan and painted according to historical models.
